FIRST CHO-CHO OF 2009

  • I'm sick and it's not fun. I feel nauseous all day long and tonight was the worst so far. I have yet to throw up and I don't plan to, but we'll see. Since the Chinese lunar calendar predicts I'm having a girl, I'm wondering if this sickness is giving me a nasty heads-up to what the teenage years are going to be like. Oh, can't wait!
  • I think we might have officially fired our new babysitter, though she doesn't know that. She's only been to babysit Jack twice (last night being her second time), but her lack of attention to detail is troublesome. This morning when I went to get Jack out of his crib, the first thing I noticed was that he wasn't wearing any pajamas. Just a short-sleeved, white cotton onesie. The first thought that went through my mind, seriously, was "How in the world did Jack get his pajamas off in the middle of the night?" before I noticed his pajamas on his changing table. NOT where I left them, so she obviously saw them and moved them. I'm sorry, but I don't care how fussy he is, you don't leave him to sleep in a onesie in the middle of winter. Plus, she didn't close a Tupperware container all the way. Hello, if you're going to eat our cookies at least make sure the rest of them don't go bad. Enough said? I think so. As Donald Trump would say, "You're fired!"
  • And yet thanks to her, we've now seen two movies this year and it's only February. We saw a total of two movies in ALL of 2008, so we're off to a good start. Not that the movies were any good - too much hype equals bad reviews by me (a thumbs halfway to "Slumdog Millionaire" and a thumbs down to "The Wrestler").
  • We're getting to keep the former owner's trampoline at our new house.
  • I went out to lunch with a friend today and had a ridiculously yummy time. My feast: Fish and chips with a side of white cheddar grits finished with the restaurant's signature candy bar dessert which included things like devil's food cake, praline ganache, and peanut nougat. Yes, I am eating for two. Back off.

A MILESTONE

It only took 14 months, 3 weeks, and 5 days for us to allow Jack...(drumroll please)...to try his first French fry.
