GOODBYE 2007

No, I didn't take my "Millionaire" money and run off somewhere tropical to leave my Blogger musings in the dust. I've simply been busy with a newborn, and houseguests, and getting a semblance of a normal life back. For example, Adrian and I left Jack with Grandma Liang on my birthday so we could grab a late lunch together. That was comical - the restaurant we were so excited to go to (having not been there before) ended up not having two of the menu items that we were intent on ordering, so we ended up leaving and going to a familiar place (which also ended up not having the first dish I ordered). Hope that's not an omen for my 32nd year. On the homefront, Jack has been sleeping up to six and a half hours a night for the last few days, so that does wonders for our lifestyle. With all the renewed energy we have, we've been going for long walks and eating out and I'll start up again with my trainer Charlotte next week. It's crazy how time flies (Jack is 8 weeks tomorrow!), but we look forward to all that the new year will bring.

Wishing all my readers a wonderful 2008!

SOME EXPLANATIONS ARE NEEDED

  • It may have seemed weird not to tell Meredith that we were going to name the baby Jack, but at the time, we weren't 100% positive and I didn't want to have the wrong name recorded forever. Plus, I specifically told my production assistant that I didn't want to say the name on air and she promised me that Meredith wouldn't ask, so when she did, it threw me for a loop. That's why I stutter a bit when I respond.

  • I know, I know, I know. I was a math major...and I asked the audience on a math question. But what you don't understand is under the lights, your mind can play tricks on you - and on that specific question, mine went COMPLETELY BLANK. ----- (that's what my mind did). I was so in shock that I didn't even thank the audience when they helped me get it right. It's something I still feel bad about. The funny part is that I told Meredith, on air, that I was a math major, but they cut that part - I guess they were trying to help me save some face.

  • A special shout-out to Katie, who did a fabulous job helping me reach $25,000!

  • So about that last question...again, they left some of my musings on the cutting room floor. I sat there on the $50,000 question (after I'd used the 50/50) and tried to wrap my mind around the fact that they'd left "Switzerland" as one of the possible answers. Aloud, I mused about why that was and if it might have something to do with their known neutrality on issues. It was so weird that I just went with it. And I'm here to tell you that my way of thinking wasn't too far off. Out of the 192 United Nations members, Switzerland only joined in 2002 - making it the third to last country to join (right before Timor-Leste and Montenegro). And know that, yes, for about two weeks after, I rued the day that I said "Switzerland," but you know what they say about hindsight.

BASKING IN MY 15 MINUTES

12.11.2007

FINALLY!

I just got an email from the publicist for "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" with my exact airdates. Woo hoo! Why they didn't tell us that they would email us with the exact airdates back when we were there is anyone's guess... Anyways, I will be on the show next Tuesday and Wednesday (December 18/19). As my mom said, she won't believe it "until I see your pretty little face," but I trust the email and I look forward to seeing myself and finally getting my winnings!

SNOW DAY

Can you guess which one of us didn't get to go see a movie on the first snow day of the year?
