WHY I DISLIKE BASEBALL IN OCTOBER

Baseball in October, especially the playoffs, is aired on Fox during normal programming time. Which means that I miss all shows I watch on Fox. These include Arrested Development, Kitchen Confidential, and The O.C. The first two have not aired for two weeks, while The O.C. has been missing for over a month now. I miss me some Jason Bateman and Adam Brody.

On a total random sidenote, Adrian and I saw Steve Nash today when we were walking around Union Square. He was with one other guy and we were the only four people on the street. I am so upset that I didn't talk to him, but I guess it wasn't meant to happen.

MAC ATTACK

Here I sit in front of a new G4 Powerbook, in my pajamas, having spent most of last night and this morning configuring it to my specifications. Having a new computer is awesome, but making it your own takes time. Plus, I haven't used a Mac since I was teaching, so I am quite a bit rusty on Apple technology. I'm enjoying the learning process, but I will be happy when I'm a pro.

CASE DISMISSED

I was excused from jury duty this morning, as was everyone else, when the judge explained that the case had been settled five minutes before we had all arrived. To say I was relieved would be an understatement. Normally, I would have been more than happy to be on a jury - I have the time and the temperament, but this one was just bad timing. My husband is just days away from being unemployed for the first time in years, and they wanted me to be away all day. I don't think so. Plus, we're trying to plan a New York trip for early November and a trip down to Pasadena to see our new niece once she is born any day now. Trivial trips, but important ones to us. The lawyers explained to us that eight out of ten civil cases get settled before even going before a jury, which would have been good to know before my four sleepless nights of worry. How good I'm going to sleep tonight.
