IT'S ABOUT FAIRNESS

Katie and I need some advice. We are so tired of going out with a large group (be it dinner, drinks, etc.) and having someone decide to split the bill equally amongst all parties EVEN if we didn't eat as much or drink as much or drink at all. And it's not about being cheap, it's about being fair. There is no eloquent way to avoid the situation without looking bad in some way. Or is there? That's what we need to know. Any suggestions?

COMMERCIAL FLAW

It is a common occurence for me to mute the TV or turn my head when a commercial comes on. I loath commercials. There are very few out there now that I feel are worth watching. It is especially irksome when I notice a commercial as bad as the one I am about to describe. The commercial is for AAA and it has a girl dropping off clothes at a dry-cleaner while another man's car is headed, driver-less, straight towards her parked one. The collision happens - and then the premise of the whole commercial is that with AAA, she can walk out to her car and it will be like it never happened. But the thing that irks me to no end is that when the errant car smashes into hers with a loud bang, she FLINCHES while in the dry-cleaners. It is quite obvious that she isn't supposed to do this. She flinches, then carries on taking out the clothes in her bag. If I heard that loud bang, I would flinch, then turn around and see what the hell had caused it. She doesn't do this. Why they aired this commercial without fixing this small flaw is beyond me - maybe there were budget cuts or time constraints, but I figure something this distracting and wrong should not have been ignored.
