DUMPING IN THE DARK

I love garbagemen - mostly because they do a job that I would never want to do. HOWEVER, when they decide to do their job anytime before 7 a.m., I can't help but start to like them just a TAD bit less. Awakening to the sounds of gears shifting and garbage dumping when it's still pitch black outside isn't fun. Does garbage smell less the earlier you tend to it? How can they see if they're even dumping inside the correct truck barrel? How can they see if they grabbed all the trash cans when some of them are black and most likely blend into the morning darkness? Do they wear flashlights? Guess what? - I don't even care. I care that they bother my sleep and it's hard enough for me to get it as it is. I want them to continue to do their fantastic job of keeping San Francisco garbage-free, but I want them to do it while I'm watching "The Price is Right", not while I'm sleeping.
