So my hairdresser just moved salons and was nice enough to let me know by calling and leaving a message on my phone. When I went to see if the salon had a website, I could only find a brief mention of the salon with this info. - "The salon does Caucasian and African-textured hair," which made me wonder...because I have neither.

On another note - I ran into a member of the official jury this past Sunday and she informed me that the case ended with a hung jury. There were 11 votes for Not Guilty and 1 for Guilty and the jurors spent 3 days trying to make the lone Guilty voter see that there was no evidence to convict the accused. Never happened. When I asked if this meant the case would have to be redone, she said the defense attorney thought the D.A. would probably not retry the case seeing how the votes were this first time around.

Jury Duty...some people's worst nightmare, today my reality. As of 4:00pm today, I have been officially selected as Alternate #1 for a case before a San Francisco court. The good news is that our case is only in session in the afternoons so I am actually able to work in the morning. The bizarre news is that during one of the defense attorney's challenges she excused my number (they only refer to you as a number to maintain anonymity), but when she saw me get up, she realized she had made a mistake and really wanted to excuse the person on my right. Let's just say I went from triumph to defeat in the space of 3 seconds. However, that moment "was the biggest laugh we got all day" to the members of the court. Thanks -- glad I could be of service.
