I was forced to learn again that if you really like something, you should just go ahead and buy it and not wait for it to go super on sale, even if it's already a little bit on sale, because what always happens is that it up and disappears. I have been stalking these two necklaces on Banana Republic's website for weeks now. They have been on sale for awhile, but I was under the assumption that they would be marked down even more. I assumed this because I recently bought a necklace (on sale) from the site that went even cheaper after I had it on my neck. So, I was going to wait my next purchase out and get the deal of the century (or at least the month) on two necklaces. Until this morning...when I went to the site that has been burned into my computer's memory by all my frequent visits and found one of the necklaces had disappeared! I was, to say the least, heartbroken. I so did not believe it that I even checked back right now to make sure I hadn't been seeing things (or not seeing them, in this case). Alas, the pretty necklace is gone. However, I can still purchase the other one, but I just have this feeling...

Okay, Mister Man, who came in to borrow scissors from me and acknowledged me by name simply because you glanced at my door three seconds before walking in...I would appreciate it if next time you borrowed scissors from me, you handed them back to me HANDLES FIRST.

One of the many things I've been doing in the time I haven't been writing is buying books. For a while there, I was a huge library connoisseur and I enjoyed the art of reading books that I didn't have to buy. I was a cardholding member of 4 different library systems throughout the Bay Area and I could walk into any one library and know exactly where the new books were. Since then, I have done a complete 180 and I really don't remember the last time I went to a library to check out books. Now I'm more into buidling up my own personal library and I buy books any chance I get. My favorite place to buy books is at used-book stores because you can find decently clean books at a portion of the cost. However, nothing can beat a library book fair. I was lucky enough to stumble upon one this weekend in Menlo Park - books galore at prices well below the $2.00 mark. Unfortunately, the weather was extremely on the hot side and most of the tables were directly in the sun, so my scavenging was cut short, but not before I bought 4 books for the whopping price of $2.75. This purchase came right on the heels of a full-price purchase of 1 book at Kepler's since Adrian and I were headed to the park to read and I hadn't brought a book with me. So in the space of one afternoon, I added 5 books to my growing library. I also must add that Adrian and I traded in our Alaska Airlines credit card for Amazon.com cards so that I/we can get free books for all our other shopping. Not a bad deal. I'm starting to love buying books almost as much as I do reading them. Let me know if you need any recommendations.
